The Tales of Berseria video game is one of the oldest Japanese RPGs out there. So it is not surprising that many developers pay tribute to it or use it as a reference to create their own games. However, this case resulted in outrageous and blatant plagiarism by the game developer for Kansen X Shoujo.

As you can see, a new character announced by the game bore striking similarities to the heroine Velvet Crow from Tales of Berseria. Fans noticed this and reported it through social media. The event forced the Kansen x Shoujo developer to issue a public apology, acknowledging what happened and announcing that they would withdraw her character for a redesign.

The situation escalated again when another user on Twitter denounced that Velvet Crow was not the only character plagiarized by Kansen x Shoujo. According to her post, Zero from the game Drakengard 3 also features the plagiarized version of her. The company has not commented on the matter, but it has shown the new design of the character that started this controversy.
