Chinese developer miHoYo became known worldwide when it released its open world role-playing video game Genshin Impact on different platforms. Completely free, but with micro-transactions through the mechanics of gachapon, the game is a media sensation and is being promoted through various mediums. In addition, Mihoyo remains working to add new events and improve the experience for their players. To this day, Genshin Impact has broken records and been crowned the best game of the year in Google Play and Apple Store.
However, Mihoyo has already been active in the video game industry for several years. It was founded in 2012 by three friends who decided to develop games based on their love for anime. And that love has paid off, as a very special collaboration for the Honkai Impact 3rd game was announced today.
What is Honkai Impact 3rd? It is the predecessor to Genshin Impact, and the game that has nurtured miHoYo’s coffers for the past 4 years. This is a device exclusive title mobile phones that have recently been launched for PC and whose focus is hack and slash-style action with role-playing elements. The player assumes the role of captain in command of a army made up of powerful warriors called Valkyries. Each Valkyrie has its own special ability, power-ups, and specific weapons. The captain can improve your warriors with different resources, and use the mechanic of the gachapon to obtain exclusive and higher quality equipment to further elevate the power of the Valkyries.
Honkai Impact 3rd has been available since 2016, with numerous events and updates, as well as new Valkyries that stand out for their magnificent design and playability. However, unlike other mobile games, miHoYo had not launched a collaboration event with any known anime franchises. Up to now.
This December 03, miHoYo revealed through a live broadcast that they would be celebrating their first special collaboration with… NEON GENESIS EVANGELION!
The content displayed during the broadcast has impressed both fans of the game and followers of Evangelion. First, Asuka Langley Soryuu (or Asuka Shikinami Langley) will be available as a Valkyrie and will fight using the iconic Spear of Longinus. And like any waifu that boasts of being one, she will have an alternative costume that will show motifs of the Nerv organization. The player will be able to unlock Asuka by playing the exclusive missions of the event.
Rei Ayanami and Mari Makinami Illustrious will also appear, but in the form of stigmata. Stigmata are power-ups that enhance Valkyries’ statuses and power, and can Combine into specific outfits for additional bonuses. Asuka will accompany Rei and Mari, also as stigma.
In addition, costumes with designs reminiscent of Evangelions Unit 01 and 02 will be included for two of Valkyries that are already part of the roster of characters in the game: Herrscher of the Reason (Eva 01 / Eva 02) and Void Drifter (Eva 02).
As a closing, some of the minigames that will be part of the collaboration event were shown. In them, the player will face some of the angels of the anime, such as Sachiel, Sahaquiel and Ramiel, in different thematic battles.
The event will be available from December 25 (a great way to celebrate Christmas) for the Chinese server, with the 4.5 update of the game. Not mentioned when it would reach the other servers, but it is very likely that it will be at the end of January next year.
