Twitter is one of the most used social networks in the world to freely express what one thinks, comment on relevant topics and be informed of the latest events in the world. And one of those relevant issues is the price of video games. A Twitter user decided to comment on the high prices of these, which drew attention from the director of the award-winning title God of War.
Cory Balrog responded by saying that the only beneficiaries in the long run would be the players, something that has been repeated generation after generation. Balrog added shortly after what would start a heated debate: Video games should cost more.
Anticipating the storm to break, Balrog went on to argue that he preferred to pay an extra ten bucks for a well-made complete set rather than fork out money continually paying microtransactions, an infamous practice that has been applied to many console and pc games these days.
Many Twitter users joined in the discussion that started the director’s “tweet.” Some criticized him, calling him greedy and inconsiderate. Others adopted a more understanding stance, commenting that having a complete and well-crafted game was worth it but that it was not something that would happen according to the current situation. And others took it in good humor, posting crazy memes that many readers of the debate found hilarious.
