Steven universe is an animated series for Cartoon Network created by Rebecca Sugar, which tells the story of a Steven next to Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl (3 alien warriors with superpowers).
The opening song “We are the crystals gems” was composed by Rebecca Sugar herself in conjunction with the duet Aivi & Surasshu, the chord sequence is the same throughout the work:

It happens that for some musicians (like me) we like to give our personality to the works and because of the style that he proposed I decided to adjust some chords to give it that jazzy flavor that he raised. so I’ll go on to explain the reharmonization of such a catchy melody:
I wanted to start with a not so obvious loudness than directly using the tonic “F” chord so instead of using its primary replacements (Dm and Am) just use an inversion of the F / A chord.
To give this new bass some orientation, I lowered it chromatically to bring it to the tonic “F”, having the sequence A - Ab - G - Gb - F, once decided that is only to give it the harmonic color that they want, thus remaining the progression of the first part:

The next part of the play I kept the basic harmony of the song for the first round and then re-harmonized in the next round:

Finally, to give it an unexpected ending, he placed a chord sequence that delays the arrival of “F6” and these are Db6 & Gb6.
