Record of Ragnarok Sasaki Kojiro Musical analysis Soundtrack

Record of Ragnarok - Sasaki Kojiro

A simple and beautiful melody to represent Sasaki Kojirō “The Big Loser”, one of the fighters who defend humanity in the anime “Record of Ragnarok” (Shuumatsu no Valkyrie)

The play can be heard in 2 moments. When after battling Poseidon several times in his mind, Sasaki says “I’m sure I don’t want to die.” There, only the Introduction of the work consisting of 2 Chords is played:

| Gm7 (9) (no3) | Gsus4 |

The play takes place more during the final events of the battle, which is in stark contrast to the images where Sasaki’s last great attack is seen before the stunned gaze of the Gods. It is a great concept since it reflects the tranquility that is in the mind of the combatant

| Gm7 (9) (no3) | Ebmaj7 (9) (no 5) | x2

| D | Csus4 (9) | D | Eb - F |

| Gm7 (9) (no3) | Ebmaj7 (9) (no 5) | x2

It is very interesting to use chords that are not so obvious to define the tonality and let the melody manage to give us the information we need for that purpose. This can be associated with a diffuse environment before a focused mind.
