Overlord (オ ー バ ー ロ ー ド) is an anime that tells the adventures of Momonga, leader of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown, after being trapped in the video game DMMORPG Yggdrasil. In chapter 9 titled “The Dark Warrior” (漆 黒 の 戦 士), Narberal Gamma (who is one of the battle maids of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and who hides her true identity under the name of Nabe) confronts Khajiit Dale Badantel (one of the twelve main members of Zurrernorn).
During the Battle Khajiit summons some skeletal dragons to attack Nabe, and it is not until he receives the order from Ainz Ooal Gown to reveal his true identity and show the true power of Nazarick, that is when the work “High level magic vs High level magic ”composed by Shūji Katayama.
This work uses the 4/4 time signature indicator, is in the key of G minor and begins with a dialogue between the orchestra (which makes beats together on beats 1 and 3) and the choirs (who counterpoint quarter notes on beats 2 and 4). This beginning is very energetic and which in turn makes Narberal’s words more epic:
“I am Narberal Gamma, one of the battle maidens, who swore allegiance to the overlord of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, being the overlord Ainz Ooal Gown. You, lower lifeform should be honored to fight me.”
The work leaves that rhythmic structure, the band begins to accompany and the choral melody flows with a phrase in black but also beginning with a setback:

During this section Narberal shows the great difference in level that she has with respect to her opponent, getting to stab him using her teleportation technique.
And it is here where an edition is made to the original work, sticking with a section that is similar to the beginning, to listen to a new speech by Narberal (thus giving a lot of meaning to the musical accompaniment) where he explains that he only stabbed him to make him notice how easy it would be to kill him.
The work makes a sudden piano (which is when the orchestra suddenly lowers its intensity) thus emulating the prelude to the end of the battle, to gradually grow using the following melodic ostinato (set of notes that are repeated many times) :

The work ends just before launching the attack that concludes the battle, which will be accompanied by another work from the soundtrack. The theme “High level magic vs High level magic” is heard in other epic battles of the anime, however, given the dark sound it transmits, it fits very well with the colors of the scene since it occurs at night.
