Soundtrack Series Netflix Money Heist Inspector Murillo Musical analysis

Money Heist - Inspector and her daughter

The hit Netflix series “Money Heist” tells us about the robbery at the Mint and doorbell planned by a mysterious character called “The Professor.” Faced with this situation, the police put Inspector Murillo, who lives with her mother and her daughter, in command of the case; after the separation of her husband Alberto.

To achieve the objectives of the work, the Doric mode of C is used as a base, which is basically the old minor scale (C - D - Eb - F - G - Ab - Bb - C) to which we increase a chromatic semitone to the 6th grade, in this case it would be to replace Ab with A (C - D - Eb - F - G - A - Bb - C). It is precisely this degree that gives it a light with respect to the minor scale that tends to be quite melancholic.

It is very interesting how harmony raises since it does not begin with grade I, but rather with grades bIII followed by IV:

Eb - F | Dm | x3

After this cycle in Doric mode, and as if to close the melodic discourse, he puts a progression from the old minor scale bVI - bVII - Im, managing to print a dramatic setting.

Ab - Bb | Cm |

And it is that this instinct to protect her daughter from the harsh environment that Inspector Murillo has to live in is very well reflected in this work composed by Ivan. M. Lacamara, so much so that the work is heard at times such as when Moscow speaks of her son and when the Inspector herself speaks with her mother as a refuge to her experiences.
