The theme that represents Godzilla in various moments of the movie “Godzilla vs Kong” is called “Pensacola, Florida (Godzilla theme)” and it is very interesting how this melody becomes an important element during the battles that both titans unleash.
The work is a sequence of notes in the manner of “Monodia” (melody that does not require instrumental accompaniment) in the key of Cm.
C - F - Fb - Eb - B - Eb - Db - Ab - G - B - Eb - Fb - G
It should be noted that Fb is used for the analysis and not E because it is a descending chromatic movement.
This section is repeated, the melody is further reinforced with its octave and a drum is added to increase the intensity and make it more epic. Finally after an atmospheric section the work ends with the following progression:
| C | CmMaj7 | Ab | C | C | CmMaj7 | Ab | G |
The author gives us a light for the work by using the I but in a higher quality, to later return to the tonality with the ImMaj7, the work ends with the V chord, closing with a semi-cadence, which in general gives us a feeling of suspense and tension. Great work from Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg)
