Cruella de Vil Disney Análisis musical Soundtrack

Cruella - Goodbye Estella

Cruella

The film Cruella tells the story of a talented designer named “Estella Miller” and how Cruella De Vil became one of the most iconic villains in the Disney universe.

And just at the moment when she buries her past and reveals the plan she had to achieve that goal, the play “Goodbye, Estella” sounds, which is composed of a continuous circle of chords that, depending on the nuance, will sustain the scene. :

| Em | B7 | Em | B7 | G | B7 | G | B7 |

CruelladeVil

The introduction is only guitar enough to associate it with the reflective moment that the scene shows us in the cemetery. Once the movie begins to reveal the details of how the events were resolved, the entire band enters to increase the intensity of what happened. It should be considered that in order to sustain throughout the scene, a guitar solo is incorporated, basically improvising on the E minor pentatonic scale:

E - G - A- B - D -E

Finally the work ends with a phrasing in Am, which has nothing to do with the previous harmony but which emphasizes Cruella’s reaction after saying “Goodbye, Estella” as if forever detaching herself from her past.
