The second season of Beastars shows us more of the world of the black market and in chapter 4 they show us a scene in a dance club for an audience of carnivores. And in that context, they introduce us to “Cosmo” an Okapi that is the only herbivore that has dared to be part of this show.
The scene begins with the voice of the presenter, asking the audience to hide their fangs, claws and enjoy the show. While watching how the stage lights turn on to focus on the face of “Cosmo” who calls himself “Every herbivore on the black market dances with death.” The music accompanies only with percussion and trombone, a Latin rhythm in 2/2 and at the end of that phrase the trumpets enter revealing the harmony of that section:

To ensure the protection of his dancer, the manager of the venue activates a cage that will protect “Cosmo” during her act. The main melody of the work is incorporated into this harmony, quite exotic and provocative for 2 more cycles.
The Cosmo show little by little increases the temperature of the clients as they take off all the clothes they were wearing, while she tells herself “The pure smell of a herbivorous female exposing her naked body … is fiercer, fresher and sweeter than any meat in the butcher shops. I will drive you all crazy with lust and appetite. " The music changes sections to a form similar to percussion solos in jazz (music and silence for a percussion solo):

The music returns to the first section but at that moment the protective cage is unexpectedly deactivated, that surprise of Cosmo when she sees herself helpless goes very well with a descending chromatic phrase executed by the melody:

The tension increases as one of the clients (a tiger) jumps on stage to devour “Cosmo”, while the administrator’s desperation to reactivate the cage is seen, the music goes to a more intense section with an air of rumba flamenco by using the following harmony:

All this stops abruptly when hearing the shot of Luis (leader of the Shishigummi) saving the life of “Cosmo” from imminent death. great musical work that is being heard in this 2 season of beastars.
