Dragon Ball GT will always be seen as a relic of the past that stood out for dividing fans and demonstrating the desperation of a studio when it risks losing one of its most profitable franchises. Actually, GT was born out of Toriyama’s desire to take a vacation, something Toei Animation didn’t like hearing. After the Dragon Ball author gave his approval, Toei released his ‘original’ sequel to Z, which had several inconsistencies with the series canon. And these are four that fans will not forgive.
1.The ‘Ki’ of Super 17
During the Super Android 17 saga, Trunks mentions that 17 has the same ki as his sister, 18. This is a very obvious continuity error, since in Dragon Ball Z it was made clear that androids did not have ki. The energy that both artificial brothers possess is artificial and limitless, something that Dragon Ball Super respected, and that was highlighted when 17 and 18 faced Moro.
2. Vegeta and the tsufurujin
Another inconsistency is present during the Baby saga. In it, Vegeta feels the ki of the Tsufurujin, a highly technological and intellectual race that shared the planet Veyita with the Saiyans before they eradicated them. But this happened long before Vegeta was born, which means that the Saiyan prince would be unable to recognize a tsufurujin’s ki with such precision. Not to mention that Vegeta learned to detect and identify ki from other life forms during his adult life, long after the destruction of his home planet.
3. Bread and Bra
The official chronology establishes that Pan and Bulma are born the same year (780), and that at the end of Dragon Ball Z, they are both 4 years old. Logically, they should both be 9 years old and look similar in terms of age. However, Bra appears to be much older and behaving like a teenager rather than a girl. This inconsistency remained until the end of the series, as Bra never played a very relevant role in GT.
4. Ages and looks
In support of the previous point, the ages in GT were never his strong point in the continuity with Z: For example, Krillin should be 53 years old but his appearance is that of someone who is already in his 60s. On the other hand, Yamcha and Bulma, who are three years older than him, look better preserved (especially Yamcha).
