The Maruyama Animation Produce Project Association studio, better known as MAPPA, began its career in the anime industry in 2011. Its founder, Masao Maruyama, had already made a name for himself in the sector because he had also been part of the major anime studio Madhouse. Until today, MAPPA has created several works of art in terms of anime, and here we have 5 of those gems.
1. Sakamichi no Aporon
This anime explores the experiences of three friends, who discover together what it means to leave adolescence. It has been acclaimed worldwide by critics.
2. Yuri !!! on Ice
Young Yuri deals with depression after a disastrous performance at the ice skating rink. His situation attracts a talented skater who will train him so that he can surpass himself and return to skating.
3. Dororo
The animated adaptation of one of the masterpieces of the legendary Osamu Tezuka. A ronin who was born deformed and without limbs receives prosthetics to fight the demonic forces linked to his birth. His partner is a spunky orphan named Dororo.
4. Zankyo no Teroru
Two brilliant boys confront a nefarious organization in order to expose it to the world. Along the way, they will befriend a lonely girl.
5. DoroHedoro
A post-apocalyptic world is divided between wizards, demons, and humans. A man, a victim of sorcerers’ magic, desperately seeks to reclaim his past as he fights his way to find those responsible for his misery.
