The anime adaptation of Honzuki no Gekokujō’s (Ascendance of a Bookworm) light novel and manga series will continue in the form of a third season for television.
The announcement was made during the live event held through the Niconico portal. The second season ended its broadcast last June and at the moment there is no date for this third installment.
The Ascendance of a Bookworm anime began its broadcast in October 2019 with a first season of 14 episodes, returning to Japanese television in April with the broadcast of another 12 episodes, adding a total of 26 episodes with the two seasons.
Between the two seasons, 2 original episodes were released in Japan with episode 14.5, in which an alternative story to the main plot is developed.
Mitsuru Hongo (several Crayon Shin-chan films directed this anime by Honzuki no Gekokujou for the Ajia-dou studio. Meanwhile, Yoshiki Kawasaki (director of an episode of Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON) acted as assistant The script was signed by Mariko Kunisawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Magimoji Rurumo), and Yoshiaki Yanagida (Genshiken 2, Kujibiki Unbalance, NieA_7) was responsible for adapting the original designs of You Shiina’s novel to anime.
When the young woman woke up she soon realized that she was in a parallel world … Motosu Urano was a university student and avid reader who died in an unfortunate and inopportune accident. She had finally received the news that she would work between books as she always dreamed of.
When she regained her sense that she was no longer herself, she had been reborn as Myne, the daughter of a low-income soldier. Her new home was the town of Ehrenfest, in a parallel world in which an unquestionable class system gave absolute power to the nobles, who possessed the ability to use magic. But that didn’t affect Myne, as long as she could read books, she didn’t care where she was.
Unfortunately for her, her new world barely has a level of acculturation and therefore no books are printed, these being a luxury that only the nobles have. A book was something unattainable for the daughter of a soldier without resources. This was not going to stop the new Myne, whom her love for her books leads her to make a decision: “If there are no books, I’ll create them myself!”
Although Myne is just a child and has no money, she has a wealth of knowledge gained from reading so much in her previous life. Will Myne be able to create books like she dreams of doing? This is the beginning of this peculiar adventure.
