Tappei Nagatsuki, author of the well-known and popular Re: Zero light novel series, dispelled one of the most recurring doubts in the minds of fans of his work. And it is about the question that comprises the outcome of Subaru’s life if he had never been transported to the world of Emilia, Rem, Ram and the others.
A Re: Zero fan translated an interview with the author, in which he answered questions from fans about him. Among them was the unknown about Subaru’s life if he had stayed in his world. According to Tappei, Subaru would finish his school year and graduate. After receiving a good scolding from Kenichi, Subaru would be accepted into his friend’s workplace to re-adapt to society.
Eventually, Subaru would enter college, and it would take him two years to complete his higher education to become a proper member of society. In the end, he would fall in love with a girl whose personality is similar to Rem’s, and he would marry her to live peacefully until her last days.
A relatively conventional ending, but much better than the torment that Subaru faces trying to save Emilia and the world from her.
