Machine to Heart is an anime that represents how low some productions can fall, even in the very mecca of Japanese animation. This series was due to premiere at the end of 2021, but was immediately canceled after discovering the dishonest maneuvers of its production team.
Topic Magazine, a variety show belonging to the Japanese network Saitama TV, was going to broadcast Machine to Heart as part of its repertoire and would treat it as a bestseller. But to achieve this, the production behind the anime communicated to the hired seiyuus that they had to pay a total of 50 installments for the production of the anime.
Each seiyuu shared the statement sent by the production on the J-CAST page, which was dedicated to investigating the strange event. According to the evidence, the Machine to Heart production team would charge 198,000 yen (or $ 1,832) to each seiyuu, managing to cover animation costs.
After J-CAST exposed this heist, Topic Magazine stated that they had no idea what was going on behind the scenes of Machine to Heart. They issued a public apology, expressing their dismay at being brought up in such a shady matter. Subsequently, the anime Machine to Heart was canceled and removed from the Saitama TV schedule.
