In 1967, on October 18, the famous English model Lesley “Twiggy” Lawson (known as the “Queen of the miniskirt”) stepped on Japanese soil and caused a furor with her style and image. The result of such a crossover of cultures caused the miniskirt to become a deserving fashion symbol of its own day. Since then, it became “official” that every 18th of the month that Twiggy visited Japan was celebrated on miniskirt day.
The miniskirt is an emblem of Japanese fashion, widely popularized by manga and anime in various stories with various contexts. It doesn’t matter if it’s a school, an amusement park, a haunted house or a battlefield, there will always be room for the miniskirt.
On Twitter, the day of the miniskirt is celebrated with posts and photos of the garment honored along with the hashtag # ミ ニ ス カ ー ト の 日. Here we present some of this year.
